Camping Trips With Children
It is a fact that going on a camping trip is a lot of fun and at the same time very exhausting,
especially if you are entertaining kids who don't yet know how to
control their energy. Here's 5 activities that every kid loves to
do:
Swimming
What kid doesn't love to swim? The beach is great and lakes are
fun but you have to keep safety in mind here always. Some
commercial campsites also come with pools - always a great choice
for kids. Stay within hearing distance of swimmers.
Biking
Campsites usually have great biking trails and often offer
rentals if you didn't bring bikes with you. Kids and parents
can enjoy biking together and its a great way to experience nature.
Bring a map of the vicinity and a small first aid kit - someone is
bound to fall or step on something.
Bird and Animal-Watching
Families can enjoy the rare wildlife and the natural environment
together and it is typically a safe adventure. Bring
binoculars and maybe some books on birds you might expect to see in
your area.
Scavenger Hunts
It takes a little planning on the parent's part, but kids love
scavenger hunts. It's like reality TV come to life - and
provides great adventures for all ages.
Be sure to limit your hunt within a safe vicinity and tell the
kids which prickly plants to avoid such as poison ivy, sumac and
oak.
Build a Campfire
Campfire and music go hand in hand when it comes to camping.
You can learn to sing and play music together and it is always a
great bonding experience for everyone.
Cook some hot dogs and hamburgers and have the kids gather sticks
and twigs to help build the fire. Teach them the safety rules
of starting and putting out fires. And, while you're at it,
encourage the kids to tell scary stories ... it might keep you all
awake for the night!
